Extractions

Often when a tooth suffers significant damage, or risks damaging other teeth or your gums, the best solution may be a tooth extraction.

Our skilled professionals are trained to always look at every possible option for saving your natural
teeth. Extractions are never our first choice.

To save an adult tooth, we consider using fillings, root canals if there is nerve damage, or other
options depending on each individual’s situation. However, if decay extends too deep under the
gums, severe periodontal disease is present, the tooth is cracked, or an infection can’t be resolved, a
tooth extraction is recommended as the best option.

Having a tooth pulled is typically painless. Our dentist ensures the area is completely numb, so while
the patient may feel some pressure, there’s no pain. Another misconception is that the tooth is
“pulled”. Actually, the tooth is gently nudged with pressure until the ligaments holding the tooth
give, and the tooth comes out automatically.
